Pauline Hanson spotted at a Beerwah cafe
PAULINE Hanson has been spotted at a Beerwah café.
One of the Daily's Facebook page likers posted this photo, saying he spotted her at Vianta Cafe this morning.
"She smiled at me," Harry McDonald posted on the Daily's Facebook page. "I did not smile back."
The former member of parliament and current One Nation Party candidate for Hinkler's views tend to have a polarising effect.
"Please glare at her appropriately," James Carroll commented.
Vianta Café owner Steve Moon confirmed Ms Hanson had surprised staff when she dropped in this morning, at about 11.30am.
"She came in with family and some other business people, perhaps politicians," Mr Moon said. "There were about four in the group.
"Everybody was very surprised, quite delighted. She's younger and nice than she's portrayed."
Ms Hanson was on her way to Gympie, Mr Moon said.
"I get a general tone that because there's a lot of farming around here and it's quite old school, people are quite conservative in their stance," he said.
Beerwah was lucky to attract more "upmarket" clientele since sprucing up its main street, he said.
"We're fortunate in Beerwah that it's improved its own sense of identity by spending money on the main street," he said. "People (now) come here for business meetings.
"We have local art on the wall, which changes every four weeks, and we find people are starving for it.
"People don't want to go all the way to Mooloolaba for a nice cuppa."
