Powerful explosion rips through Sydney shop
A powerful explosion has destroyed a fast food shop in Sydney’s south, shattering the shop’s front windows and hurling debris onto the street.
Flames engulfed the single-storey Wraps & Grills building on Kelsey Street in Arncliffe at about 1.45am this morning.
Twenty-five firefighters responded after multiple triple-0 calls, and crews were able to turn off the gas main and save the butcher shop next door.
A gas leak was discovered inside the building, but whether it was the initial cause of the explosion is unclear.
Despite the shop being within close proximity of houses, no one was injured.
A crime scene had been established and an investigation is underway to confirm the exact cause of the blaze.
