Incredible experiences await young industry talent this year. Created to develop, support and recognise the next culinary generation of leaders Electrolux Appetite for Excellence is offering more opportunities in 2016 for young chefs, waiters and restaurateurs.

The ultimate national awards program for young hospitality professionals this year has Industry legends such as Guy Grossi, Mark Best, Peter Doyle, Peter Gilmore, Nick Hildebrandt, and Luke Mangan are involved to help support, recognise and encourage young hospitality talent.


Electrolux Australian Young Restaurateur 2015

The program culminates in the crowning of the Young Chef, Young Restaurateur and Young Waiter of the Year, but it also provides fantastic opportunities for everyone who enters to help shape their future. “Being in the program gave me the confidence to push forward in my career as well as priceless industry exposure,” says Jacob Davey now head chef at est restaurant.
From educational masterclasses; produce tours, networking with industry giants, being featured in our events to travelling interstate and overseas there are many unique prospects at every stage. George Tomlin recommends “Learn as much as you possibly can from the program opportunities. Listen and ask questions, as you will meet immensely knowledgeable and inspiring people.” For Brooke Adey, now manager at Yellow, “The feedback you get from the judges, no matter what stage you get to will only help you improve, and you may surprise yourself with how far you go.”


Electrolux Australian Young Waiter 2015

Each year this program really helps young chefs, waiters and restaurateurs focus on where they want to go in their career and how they’d like to get there. The application process pushes entrants to think about how to define what their values are and who they are personally and professionally. “We provide people with an environment that assists in developing networks and being involved in a community of like-minded people that are inspiring, knowledgeable who want you to succeed.” says Phee Gardner project director.

Applications are open to young chefs and waiters under 30 years old and restaurateurs under 35 who are currently working in hospitality.
