Darra hotel gutted by fire

A hotel in Darra has been gutted by fire after a blaze started above the building's kitchen.

A Queensland Fire and Rescue spokesman said a large amount of smoke was reported coming from the Hotel Monier on Monier Road, Darra at about 7am.

"It's believed the fire was in the ceiling void above the hotel kitchen where it is currently being contained by crews now," he said.

"We have about eight fire trucks on the scene along with a telescopic ladder for a roof entry."

The spokesman also said the inside the hotel was badly damaged by smoke and fire.

"We're not sure about the cause of the blaze just yet, a fire investigation unit will look into it when it's contained," he said.

No was injured from the blaze and fire crews remain on the scene.
