Last minute staffing solution for pubs, bars

A 21-year-old entrepreneur in Sydney has launched an exciting instant employment service for people to fill a wide variety of positions that open up across Australia at short notice.

Called OneShift, the service advertises jobs that arise at the last minutes in a range of industries and companies, largely centred on hospitality operators like pubs, cafes and events organisers.

Owner Genevieve George said, "I came up with the idea for OneShift when travelling in Europe and we regularly needed work on short notice to cover our costs. OneShift provides a great service to operators looking to solve last minute staffing issues, as well as people seeking work at short notice or for time periods as short as one shift.

"We have already seen strong demand from a range of operators in the hospitality sector who have been short of staff when they have had sick days or in periods of high demand – providing immediate solutions to their staffing problems," she said.

The service simply involves an employer posting a job on the website www.oneshift.com.au and potential staff applying instantaneously. Potential staff also have the ability to promote themselves through updating their profiles, posting resumes with pictures and videos about themselves and a star rating system from previous employers.

"I expect OneShift to become a network linking staff and employers on an ongoing basis, where short term and ongoing casual positions are filled continuously," said George.
