2017 R&C Awards for Excellence

The 2017 Savour AustraliaTM Restaurant & Catering HOSTPLUS National Awards for Excellence was held in Melbourne’s Peninsula last night to celebrate the achievements of Australia’s finest hospitality businesses.

Cafés, restaurants and catering businesses demonstrating exceptional service, culinary excellence and value for money were recognised at the event across 41 different categories.

The Award winners from each category were decided by individual judges trained in the rigorous Restaurant and Catering Evaluation System (RACES) program. The Award winners across the major categories for 2017 included:

▪ Café of the Year – The Artisan Café, BLACKWOOD (South Australia)

▪ Caterer of the Year – Events by Aria - Carriage Works, SYDNEY (New South Wales)

▪ Restaurant of the Year – Tetsuya's Restaurant, SYDNEY (New South Wales)

Restaurant & Catering (R&CA) CEO Juliana Payne congratulated each of the National Award winners on behalf of the Association, praising their individual contributions to Australia’s hospitality industry.

“The winners of this year’s Awards, both at a national and a state level, have each demonstrated sustained excellence in their craft which we are delighted to recognise here tonight.

“The enormous hard work, dedication and passion of these business-owners and their staff is what makes Australia’s hospitality industry up there with the best in the world. This is reflected in the fact that domestic and international tourists consistently rank dining out as one of their most preferred activities whilst on holiday.

“What’s more is that many of these efforts may very well go unnoticed so that’s why it’s so important to take the time during the Awards to give credit where credit is due.

Ms Payne also commended the various finalists and Award winners recognised throughout the 2017 Awards season, whilst encouraging hospitality businesses to enter the 2018 Awards.

“At the six separate Awards events held over the last three months, hundreds of hospitality businesses all throughout Australia have been acknowledged for their achievements.

“This year’s Awards season has been nothing short of an outstanding success and the Association is grateful for the efforts of a number of individuals who have made this all possible.

“Whilst the Awards season for 2017 is now over, we as always look forward to next year’s Awards and urge all businesses in the hospitality industry to put forward a nomination.
