Little Big House to open in Brisbane

The Solotol Hospitality Group has announced plans for its third Brisbane venue.

Little Big House, located in the booming South Bank district in Southpoint, Grey Street, just south of Brisbane’s CBD, will open in December.

A heritage-listed building dating back to 1889, the Collins Place Queenslander has also served as the South Bank police station and was the Spaghetti House during the 1988 World Expo.

Now the former residence will be transformed into a Sunshine State drinking hole, complete with palm trees, verandas, fairy lights and foliage.

What Solotol has done is blend the heritage and modern features of the building to create a pub that has the feel of one of those iconic Queenslander-style homes.

“Opening summer 2017, to take you on a journey, immersing you in a sweaty, humid, sun-soaked, laid back, old Queenslander house party where everyone is your mate,” the website proclaims.

The food and drink on offer there will be very Queensland. It will incorporate quality local seasonal ingredients and the emphasis will be on tropical aesthetics.

Basically, it’s being promoted as a house party venue.

It will offer great music, and a simple drinks menu. The food there will be rotisserie roasted chicken, meats and seafood.

“We, and indeed Brisbane, are excited to see this very talented team bring Collins Place back to life, being such an important part of our local history and a real hero piece for Southpoint,” developer Tony John of the Anthony John Group told Delicious.

Solotel Group says it is creating a new festive space for Brisbane, and that’s something to look forward to.

“South Bank is a premier destination – and we’re really excited to bring a fun new experience to the area. This is my third venture in Brisbane with Matt and we can’t wait for the locals to see what’s inside. The building and its history really demanded we create something special,” Solotel Director Bruce Solomon told Delicious.
