Sydney’s best comes to Melbourne

The best of Sydney’s food scene is coming to Melbourne. Coinciding with the Australian Open, the event that puts Melbourne on the map.

The 2018 Australian will not only be about tennis, it will also bring people the best of food.

The AO Food Series will feature some of Australia’s best known chefs at pop-up restaurants specially set up for the event.

Names include Peter Gilmore from Quay and Bennelong, Angela Hartnett from London’s Murano, Jake Nicolson from Blackbird Bar & Grill in Brisbane and from Melbourne, there’s Alejandro Saravia from Pastuso.

These are just done of the many names that will feature in the series.

For Peter Gilmore, it will be the first ever Melbourne event. He will present his five course degustation on January 24.

“I’m looking forward to being part of one Australia’s greatest sporting events and showcasing a selection of Quay’s signature dishes in Melbourne,” Gilmore told Delicious.

Michelin-star chef Angela Hartnett will present a five-course degustation, based on what she offers from her award-winning London eatery Murano.

It will include Australian dishes with a taste of Italian.  

Angela has some experience here. She has done this for the British equivalent.

“I always cook at Wimbledon, so love the tennis side, but the real selling point is the fabulous food in Melbourne which I cannot wait to eat. We will be bringing Murano to Melbourne,” Hartnett told Delicious. “It’s 10 years old next year so we are putting a menu together that really shows what Murano is about.”

For Alejandro Saravia, it will be a celebration of produce from regional Gippsland in the first viewing of Farmer’s Daughters, matching his dishes with a selection of local wines.”

“I’m super excited because after planning this for a long time, and working with a lot of different regions in Gippsland and a huge variety of produce, we are finally ready to show this, in the amazing space which is The Glasshouse,” he explains of his involvement,” Saravia told Delicious.
