Police swoop on drug deal

Police have arrested a Kingsgrove woman for allegedly supplying prohibited drugs.

The arrest was made when she emerged from a restaurant in Belmore.

Charged by Drug and Firearms Squad detectives, the 24-year-old woman was one of three arrested as they left the eatery, just after 8.30pm last Thursday.

The arrest was made after detectives from the squad established Strike Force Wandevan in January to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs online.

Police arrested the three after extensive investigations.

They spoke to the woman and a 26 year old man. Their infant son was with them at the time.

During the course of their inquiries, police discovered 630 grams of cocaine and $40,000 cash. In addition to that, they found $200,000 cash in a false compartment of another car belonging to a 24-year-old man

Both vehicles were taken in for further examination.

The three were then taken to Campsie Police Station. A relative came in to take the child into care.

Following the arrests, strike force detectives executed a search warrant at a home at Wyee where they seized methylamphetamine (ice), $27,400 cash, vials, tablets, and powder, suspected to be steroids, and drug paraphernalia.

Police have charged a 24-year-old man from Wyee with eight counts of drug supply and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

The Kingsgrove woman was charged with commercial drug supply while the 26-year-old Hinchinbrook man has been charged with commercial drug supply.

The main concern and charges centre around the allegations of an extensive drug ring.

When the case come to court, police will allege the 26-year-old man and 24-year old woman were involved in the supply of prohibited drugs to the younger man.

The three were subsequently refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court.

The arrests have been among several that have been made around Campsie over the last few months.
