Melbourne’s Cibi moving to a bigger site

Collingwood Japanese-inspired cafe Cibi is moving to a new site four times the size of the previous one.

The new 800-square-metre warehouse is just a stone’s throw away from the old Keele Street spot that they have been in for a decade.

Co-owners Meg and Zenta Tanaka will use the extra space to offer an extensive selection of kitchen goods and homewares, many of which are imported from Japan exclusively for Cibi. There will also be a grocery offering with seasonal produce, dairy and Japanese pantry staples.

The menu is also expanding too, with the Japanese Breakfast of grilled salmon, omelette, greens, rice and miso, which was previously only served on weekends, soon be on offer every day. The soba salad and chicken soboro (rice bowl with greens and minced chicken) will also remain on the menu.
