Fresh look at Delectable dining

Brisbane's food scene is set to sizzle this winter as Delectable, a 13-day festival, makes its debut in July.

Focusing on restaurants, producers and chefs, Delectable will give foodies an excuse to loosen their belts a notch and toast Queensland.

As a climax, the City Botanic Gardens will be transformed into a Food Bowl on July 29 with top chefs - from Aria's Matt Moran and Ortiga's Pablo Tordesillas to Restaurant Two's David Pugh and more - behind the burners giving festival-goers a chance to sample award-winning plates.

Restaurant Two chef and owner Mr Pugh described the new festival as a coup for the state, while Tank Restaurant chef-owner Alastair McLeod said it would be a lovely "bellwether" for Queensland's hospitality and food industry.

The festival aims to promote Queensland as a major food state and to reinforce our reputation as one of the best capitals to visit during winter. The Courier-Mail is a foundation partner of the event and to kick things off, Brisbane will host the delicious. Produce Awards for the first time.

The dinner will be held at Aria Restaurant.
