Geocon fishes for interest in 5-star Canberra hotel

Canberra developer Geocon has started marketing the 5-star hotel being built as part of its Midnight complex on Northbourne Avenue to potential buyers worldwide. 

The building giant is inviting buyers to acquire and run the hotel themselves, or to have it operated by the developer's subsidiary, Iconic Hotels. 

To include a restaurant and bar, conference rooms and indoor pool, the 200-room hotel would sit alongside a 250-home apartment complex as part of Geocon's revamp of the former NRMA House in Braddon. 

"With international and interstate visitors to the ACT at an all-time high, we need to make sure that the quality of our hotel stock is keeping up with the demands of guests," Geocon managing director Nick Georgalis said. 

"This is even more important for developments along Northbourne Avenue where we expect Midnight will be the benchmark by which other developments are judged." 

Construction is expected to be completed by August next year.
