No shortage of beer at Australia's biggest pub

It's got nine bars, 100 beer taps, and can accommodate up to 7000 people within its walls.

The Eatons Hill Hotel, in Brisbane's northern suburbs, is claiming the mantle of the biggest pub in Australia.

And the owners of the $30 million, 7500-square-metre hotel, which opened in April, have their sights set on making it Brisbane's next "iconic" pub.

Rob Comiskey, who runs the Comiskey Group with his father Paul and brother David, said the family found the sprawling site several years

"We didn't know exactly what we wanted to do with the site but we thought we wanted to do an iconic Brisbane hotel that would remain iconic, like the Story Bridge or the Breakfast Creek Hotel," he said.

"We want it to be a destination."

With that in mind, they hired Fortitude Valley-based KP Architects, the minds behind the recent Breakfast Creek Hotel renovation.

"It's just ... focusing on a good atmosphere and spaces. It's not the flashiest [design], it's got a very natural tones, all timber and stone," Rob said.

While the pub's several function centres take up most of the space, there's also nine different bars, including a cellar and rooftop.

"We went to 100 [beer] taps last week. We've got 20-something beers. We didn't go for the widest range. We don't want to have beers that people won't drink. We do have a lot more than a local hotel," he said.

Then there's the 350-seat restaurant, and a huge beer garden with a five-by-four metre big-screen television.

"I think it's the largest TV in Queensland. We had to get is specially imported from China," Rob said.

Plans for an adjactent 100-room, 4.5 star hotel are also underway.
