The Rosemont Hotel to close after prominent Adelaide publican’s death

Adelaide’s Rosemont Hotel is to close its doors after the death of long standing publican Rod Rose.

However, local patrons still have a chance to hold onto a part of its history with Rose’s children Steve, Dave and Gabby holding a garage sale over the weekend with everything from sporting memorabilia to bar paraphernalia and promo gear up for sale.

“Anything that isn’t connected,” they told The Advertiser. “It’s been an iconic sports bar for 20 years.”

Australian Hotels Association SA general manager Ian Horne said the passing of Rose would be a “great loss” to Adelaide.

“He was iconic in the industry and instrumental in the West End,” he told The Advertiser.

“Few of them come along and he will be greatly missed. He made a significant contribution to the wellbeing of the West End, live music and the night time economy.”

The Rosemont will still trade until its closure at the end of this month.
