Two of the World’s Best Bars collide in Sydney for one-night only - Barcelona & London take Sydney

Two Schmucks can’t be stopped.

Moe Aljaf, one half of Two Schmucks (Barcelona), comes to Sydney for one-night only event at the newly opened Scout Sydney. This event sees two of the World’s most celebrated bartenders and bars collide for a night of cocktails, banter and tunes.

Having just flung open its doors and instantly becoming one of the most sought-after seats in town, Scout Sydney continues rolling with the punches in welcoming one of the World’s hottest bar identities for their first Guest Shift.

In its first year Two Schmucks was awarded ‘Best New European Bar 2018’, placed 87th in the World’s top 100 and was awarded Top 4 best new international bars 2018, incredible accolades for such a young bar.

Moe describes Two Schmucks as a Five Star Dive Bar. The bar itself and the surrounding area (Raval, Barcelona) is edgy and alternative, but at Two Schmucks you’ll receive the kind of service you’d expect in any of the city’s finer establishments.

After working together on a cocktail project for the Bacardi Legacy contest and finishing 3rd, Moe and partner AJ White moved to Barcelona together, and eventually set up a touring pop-up bar concept called Two Schmucks, which took them all over Europe and the Middle East.

“As we were doing the Two Schmucks tour, we were getting a lot of hype,” says Moe, “and we kept telling people that we were opening a bar…” “We didn’t even have a location!” laughs AJ.

Moe is an extraordinary bartender and he’ll be bringing his Two Schmucks cocktails for the event. Two Schmucks is clearly a place where Mojitos matter - The Two Schmucks twist is made with a blend of Cuban white rum, clairin sajous rhum from Haiti, and a touch of pisco.

Aljaff’s secret is a special ‘Mojito syrup’ made from two types of sugar, lime peels, star anise, dry mint, Moroccan mint tea, bitters, and two dashes of absinthe.

The Schmucks Vesper, with gin, vodka, Laphroaig scotch, and bits of pecorino, is impressive to say the least. Their French mule is delicious and invigorating and they boast a curious section of clarified cocktails, starring the Matador, which features scotch, cherries, oranges, sweet vermouth and burnt cinnamon.

Two Schmucks was built by Moe Aljaf and A.J. White with their own four hands, with recycled materials and sweat which they keep growing with the money coming in. It's a biblical DIY job that has turned out to be an everyday bar and a superior cocktail bar at the same time. It's also a café – with a quality guarantee from Satan's Coffee Corner – and a restaurant serving a variety of food throughout the day, including their popular brunch at night.
