New café proposal in Wollongong CBD kids’ stuff

Plans for a new interactive children’s play area, café and function room for Wollongong’s CBD have been submitted to Wollongong City Council.

Kellie Tikkeros has submitted the proposal for the multi-purpose business known as "Kids Kingdom Wollongong" on Crown Street.

"The nature of the business is to provide a nice retreat for parents to come and socialise while the kids play during their shopping outings as well as a great space to hold functions within the CBD," the development application said.

The café will serve coffee, gourmet sandwiches and cakes and will be used for private functions such as children's birthday parties, baby showers, high teas and themed functions.

The business owner wants to operate from 6am to 9pm seven days a week.

"It is proposed to hold private functions on site which will run up to 12 midnight on varying days," the application said.

"An application for an on premises liquor licence will be made to allow consumption of alcohol for functions. Liquor will not be sold as part of the day to day running of the indoor play centre."

The plans also include construction of a timber deck with a roof to replace the dilapidated three-car space outside the building in Crown Lane.

"These external upgrades are proposed to improve the visual quality of the Crown Lane entrance while providing a nice open space area to consume coffee and food," the development application said.
