Blaze destroys newly renovated restaurant at Warrenmang Vineyard

A devastating blaze has destroyed the newly renovated restaurant and function space at Warrenmang Vineyard and Resort in regional Victoria.

The fire occurred on Thursday night, with firefighters only bringing it under control after three hours. No-one was injured and the fire did not spread to the rest of the winery or accommodation.

Speaking to the Ballart Courier, managing director Emma Du said the fire was possibly caused by a customer using a barbeque facility at the new venue.

"The staff have said the fire got to the roof of the restaurant and they tried to use the fire extinguishers but could not stop it spreading,” she said.

"We are really sad. We were dedicated to open the restaurant with renovations and now it has been destroyed. It is unexpected.”

The Du family only purchased Warrenmang Vineyard and Resort in September 2017 from long time owners Luigi and Athalie Bazzani.

"We did have functions scheduled during May and October and have had wedding inquiries which we will now have to cancel,” she said. “It is really sad."
