Armadale café calls on public donations to save his business
A cafe owner in Armadale has launched a GoFundMe page in an effort to keep his business afloat.
Walk Don’t Run café owner Tom Elesits says years of building work on luxury apartments on Morey St has resulted in a 50 per cent decline in business since 2017.
Speaking to the Stonnington Leader, he said his business was bringing in $25,000 a month less compared to when works started.
“The construction was only four metres away from our outdoor dining area,” Elesits said. “It drove away customers and killed our business.”
Describing the last two years as a “long struggle”, he says he chose to pay staff rather than rent, putting him behind with his landlord. “It’s a dire situation,” he said.
