Executive chef Richard Ousby quits Stokehouse Q

Richard Ousby is stepping down from his role as executive chef for Brisbane and St Kilda restaurants Stokehouse Q and Stokehouse

After six years with the Van Haandel Group, Ousby said it was time to move on.

“It’s been a roller coaster of emotion the last few weeks,” he said. “But the idea that you can be open to anything is super exciting.”

Ousbey’s journey with the restaurants began in 2012 as sous chef at Stokehouse Q, before becoming executive chef of both Brisbane and Melbourne venues in 2016.

With no plans for his next move, Ousby says he just wants “to do nothing” for the present.

Co-owner of the Van Haandel Group, Frank van Haandel said Ousby “will always be a part of the Stokehouse family”.

“We have forged not just a strong working relationship, but a personal friendship which will live on,” said Haandel. “It has been a pleasure witnessing not only his professional development but also his growth outside of work and the addition to his family of his two boys.”

A replacement will be announced shortly.
