Donto Sapporo restaurant moves inland from Broadbeach
Gold Coast Japanese restaurant Donto Sapporo is relocating from its Broadbeach location inland to make way for an apartment development.
While construction is under way, Donto Sapporo will be moving to the Sorrento Shopping Village.
The restaurant, which offer a menu influenced by Hokkaido in southern Japan, has been trading the same spot for 28 years. It is run by Michiyo Tanabe, who also owns the land on which the new eight-level BDA-designed apartments will be built.
The restaurant will relocate temporarily, returning to a glass fronted space on the ground floor of the new building which will have 56 apartments, an animal play area on the seventh floor, a veggie garden, yoga area and gymnasium.
