Hahndorf café owner faces liquidation over unpaid fruit and vegetable bill

A company linked to the owner of a popular Hahndorf café and wedding venue is facing liquidation over an unpaid debt.

Winding-up proceedings have been filed against Silvia Hart’s firm Maerhuev Pty Ltd, with Pooraka-based fruit and wholesaler AMJ Produce alleging she has ignored a court order to pay a $55,000 produce bill.

According to Federal Court documents filed by AMJ Produce, Maerhuev traded as The Seasonal Garden Cafe and Store with a principal place of business at 100 Main Rd, Hahndorf, which is also the location of the current Seasonal Garden Cafe.

According to a report in The Advertiser, Hart is the sole director and shareholder of Maerhuev and does not have any other companies under her control.

AMJ Produce launched a winding-up application after Hart failed to comply with a statutory demand that she pay the $55,000 within 21 days of the court order.

If the application at a hearing on July 24 is granted it will likely trigger the liquidation of Hart’s company.

Hart’s businesses include another Hahndorf outlet and branches in Stirling and Norwood.

Hart is also battling another court case involving a former employee who took action against her seeking unpaid entitlements following her resignation last December.

Adelaide Magistrates Court has issued a warrant against Hart after she ignored a summons to attend a hearing at the Mt Barker Magistrates Court.

The court action came after Hart failed to meet an agreed deadline to compensate her former employee who worked at the Hahndorf cafe for three-and-a-half years.
