Arc Wine Bar reborn as Italian pop up

Arc Wine Bar launched six months ago at Brisbane’s Howard Smith Wharves to great acclaim but has recently transformed into an Italian-inspired pop-up.

Ciao Papi is intended to be the first of a series of pop-ups in the space, with a focus on pasta and wine, according to Arc Dining head chef Alanna Sapwell.

“Instead of heading to the bar for a drink and a snack, we want the space to feel more like a proper restaurant,” she said.

The décor has been a given a soft makeover with the aim of making it casual and inclusive.

“A place where you drop in for a $10 glass of chianti and a nice pasta,” said Sapwell.

Special such as spanner crab ravioli will feature alongside menu items including beef ragu with buttered pappardelle, vegetable lasagne and wagyu skirt served with mustard.

Sapwell said she was always inspired by Italian cuisine, saying it was the original reason she wanted to become a chef.

The eatery runs alongside the 100-seat Arc Dining but is walk-in only.
