Sunshine Coast restaurant looks to open rooftop bar and outdoor terrace

The top floor of the building that houses Amici Restaurant Pizzeria in Caloundra is set to become rooftop bar.

Building owner Bingera Investments has applied to Sunshine Coast Council to extend the Italian restaurant at ground level and on the rooftop.

"The proposal is to extend the restaurant by way of two new outdoor dining areas, one at street level to the rear (south) of the existing indoor dining area and another occupying the rooftop level," the report, prepared by Sunshine Coast Survey and Planning, stated.

The plans would more than double the venue’s existing footprint to a total of 726sqm, with a proposed 305sqm rooftop terrace and 79sqm ground level, outdoor deck.

The rooftop space would include an unroofed, tiled outdoor dining area with planter boxes and a trellis for shade and creeping plants, a roofed bar and kitchen, and a stage and storage area at the southern end of the dining area.

The proposed ground floor outdoor dining area would be built first, with the rooftop area to follow.

Sunshine Coast Council is now assessing the proposal, which was lodged on August 20.
