Beach House on Geelong waterfront to open by Christmas

Geelong waterfront venue the Beach House is aiming to open by Christmas after a complete refurbishment.

Owners the Mulberry Group announced their redevelopment plans last year after entering into a 10-year lease with the City of Greater Geelong. The former restaurant has been vacant since it closed without warning in early 2016.

The redevelopment plans included a 120-patron function centre, 120-seat café and takeaway kiosk.

Speaking to the Geelong Advertiser, Mulberry Group chief executive Nathan Toleman said it was “really exciting” to be so close to opening.

“We feel like we’ve been working to this for a long time, we’re happy just to be getting the doors open – it feels like a long time coming, but it’s really exciting,” he said.

“We’re just gonna get the doors open and get through the Christmas period and New Year. We’re getting a lot of event inquiries, so we can start taking events and bookings after that.”
