Perth’s heritage Royal Hotel reopens after restoration
The heritage-listed Royal Hotel has reopened on Wellington Street in Perth.
Built in 1882 during the gold rush, the landmark venue has had a multi-million restoration and refurbishment by publican John Parker and owner Charter Hall.
The venue can hold 725 guests across its two-storeys while the first floor balcony can accommodate up to 200.
The space is full of historic details such as a solid oak bar, leadlight windows, wooden doorways, the balustrade on the grand staircase and timber floorboards. The venue also has a private dining room, and is also planning to open a karaoke room soon.
Speaking to Broadsheet, Parker said it was an iconic building that was a part of Perth’s history.
“It’s interesting watching people’s reactions,” he said. “They were walking around like they were in an art gallery, which is cool and what I wanted it to be. I want the hotel to be a bit of a discovery.”
