Armed robbers storm Sunshine Coast hotel

Police are searching for three men armed with sawn-off weapons who stormed into a Sunshine Coast hotel and stole the day’s takings.

The men entered the CBX Hotel in the early morning and held a group of patrons hostage in the pokies room while demanding a sum of money from a female employee.

The employee handed the men the money and they fled the scene in a black Mitsubishi sedan.

No one was injured in the incident.

“It’s not a hostage situation, but when they came in they pointed firearms at the security guard and the people in the poker machine room,” Sunshine Coast CIB Acting officer-in-charge Chris Eaton told 7news.

“They demanded that those persons place their hands on their head and not move from where they were.”

The police have called on the public to come forward if they have information that could help identify the offenders.
