Knife fight at Melbourne venue sees six taken to hospital

Six people were rushed to hospital after knife fight erupted at a Melbourne function centre.

The brawl at the La Mirage Reception and Convention Centre was sparked by an argument over $250 tickets to Lebanese pop star Fares Karam’s concert on the weekend, according to a report by 7 News.

The group had been thrown out earlier that night but returned to the venue to confront staff about not having drinks included in their $250 concert tickets.

The venue's owner, staff and some of his friends were caught up in the fight which saw several men suffer stab wounds. A 29-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital condition after suffering several stab wounds to his back.

Speaking to the Sunday Herald Sun, witness Rami Wassouf said he tried to break up the fight. 

“I tried to stop some of the people bashing each other,” Wassouf said.

“One person had a knife and he started stabbing people.”

No one has been charged yet.
