Google’s new feature to make it easier to order directly from restaurants

Google is adding a new feature that will make it easier for customers to order from restaurants they search for.

The new feature lets merchants specify their preferred ordering method when customers find a restaurant through Google Maps.

The tech giant will also launch other new features, including the ability to book online services directly through Google.

The move threatens platforms such as UberEats as the feature gives restaurants a new way to encourage customers to order from them directly rather than a third party app.

When tapping a link to order food from a restaurant’s Google business profile customers will be able to see which platform the restaurant prefers.

The search giant will also now allow virtual kitchens to verify their businesses on Google, despite not having a physical location.
