20-man pub brawl ends in just one arrest

A brawl at a Slade Point pub on Anzac Day led to one man being taken to hospital and another charged with his assault.

At 9.20pm on 25 April, several police units were called to the Seabreeze Hotel on the peninsular suburb of Mackay, where there were reports of a brawl involving 15-20 men.

One report stated a man was lying on the ground, unconscious.

Two Queensland Ambulance crews arrived by 9.35pm, where they assessed three people at the scene.

A 36 year old man was transported to hospital in the care of the critical care and high acuity response units. 

He was admitted overnight to Mackay Base Hospital with a head injury but in a stable condition.

Two other people declined first responder transport to hospital.

A police spokeswoman said police have charged a 27-year-old man with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm in a public place.

No one else had been charged and the investigation is still ongoing.
