Billionaire ‘Twiggy’ Forrest set to transform the Indiana Tea House at Cottesloe Beach

Investment business Tattarang plans to transform the Indiana Tea House at Cottesloe Beach in Perth to include three levels of dining.

Tattarang is owned by mining magnate Andrew ‘Twiggy’ Forrest and invests in a diverse range of businesses across agri-food, energy, resources, property, and lifestyle.

Tattarang’s property division Fiveight, in conjunction with architecture firm Woods Bagot plans to create a “modern and accessible beachside precinct” which will feature new restaurants, cafes, a promenade and covered public plaza.

A development application submitted to the Town of Cottesloe council shows plans to renovate the existing tea house building and include a rooftop pool, bar and three levels of dining.

It will also feature two separate structures that are connected and offer “steps down” towards the ocean.

Plans for a second building facing Marine Parade will include a three-level hotel, with 31 guest rooms and a subterranean hydrotherapy and day spa.

Andrew Hagger, Tattarang chief executive, refers to the project as the culmination of over two years of planning, stakeholder engagement and a public design competition.

“We believe a renewed Indiana will assist Cottesloe Council to fully realise their vision for the wider foreshore,” Hagger said.

“[This will be made possible by] providing seamless connections with the broader beach precinct, deliver new public facilities for all beach users and visitors, and further enhance the area’s world-renowned character.
