Icebergs to be put on ice for major renovation
Iconic Bondi Beach entertainment venue Icebergs is set to undergo a major renovation.
From 8 May, the Bondi Beach favourite will shut down for winter for a major design overhaul.
The work is set to complement the current construction of the Bar Americano pop-up at Icebergs Dining Room and Bar.
Founder Maurice Terzini told Good Food that "May 8 is our last service".
The renovation will be substantial, with everything about Icebergs to come under scrutiny, including the toilets.
The venue is expected to reopen in September and will include a new terrace and a centrepiece of seafood "troughs" with lobsters in the middle of the dining room.
The interior will change with the seasons and work on the lighting is also being considered.
"We might need to change them," he says.
"We'll also fix its leaky roof," the restaurateur says of the venue he opened in 2002.
