New network to link up food industry

A new local food trading system will be launched today.

It has been developed by Southern Queensland Country Tourism to help local farmers link up with restaurants and other food users.

One of the developers, Rose Wright, says the food network makes sense because the region has some of the best produce in the country.

"If we can bring together the commercial demand and commercial supply to work together, we can actually start to create short supply chains, links and leverages between what's being produced and what's being consumed but more importantly we can actually collect some really serious data and information about what's being produced in the region," she said.
