Cash back dining vouchers make their return for Victorians

Victorian diners and entertainment seekers will once again be able to claim cash back on part of their experience with the reintroduction of the dining and entertaining voucher program.

Industry Recovery and Support Minister Ben Caroll said the program will be available during Spring and at the start of summer and will allow customers to claim 25 per cent of their money back when they spend at least $40 on a dining or entertainment experience in Victoria.

Pub and restaurant meals, concert tickets, amusement parks and galleries are all covered.

Rebates will be available until 16 December or until the $25 million allocation to the program has been exhausted.

“Whether it’s booking a table for lunch or heading to a live music event, this cash-back program puts money back into people’s pockets and supports hardworking businesses across Victoria,” Carroll said.

“This program also helps build business and consumer confidence, while supporting jobs and boosting the state’s economy.”

The scheme was first introduced in March 2022 to help struggling businesses in their COVID recovery and saw $32 million claimed in just three months.

“With a blockbuster summer of major events upon us, we’re providing Victorians even more reasons to get out and enjoy everything the state has to offer – while saving money and supporting local businesses,” Major Events Minister Steve Dimopolous said.

Waterfront Restaurant manager Alfred Hidri applauded the move.

“It was a good deal for customers when they first introduced it, and for regional people, it will be an extra incentive to come into the city.”

Daniel Omato, owner of Melbourne cafe Lux Foundry agreed.

“There are many businesses that will benefit from this boost,” he said.

“The news is timely as we head into the school holidays, and we look forward to seeing more Victorians out enjoying a meal with their family and friends.”
