Adelaide CBD set to get Karen’d with new diner

Adelaide is set to have its own Karen’s Diner with the controversial restaurant opening in the CBD in November.

The establishment is known worldwide for being rude to their customers with slogans such as “great burgers and rude service” and “don’t ask to speak to a manager!”.

There are now multiple stores across Australia and the UK.

Customers are greeted at Karen’s by rude waiters and are forced to play games.

If your name is Karen, you get a free drink.

Recently, Karen’s diner wait staff have been accused of going too far with their insults.

TikToker Bec Hardgrave posted a video detailing that the staff were making “offensive comments” about the appearance of some customers such as telling one patron to “brush their hair” and told another they “looked too old”.

Allegedly, cups were thrown at customers and staff told a group of women to leave.

In another incident, a Brisbane family complained about a “vulgar” exchange in July that was targeting their 14-year-old daughter. The father was referred to as a “paedophile” and was told he was “keeping it in the family”.

Despite these complaints, there are some rules the waiters must follow.

These include no racism, no sexism, no homophobic comments, no body image comments, no ableist comments, do not touch staff and no sexual remarks toward staff.

The new restaurant will be at 6 East Terrace in the city.
