Homicide detectives investigate mans’ death at WA pub
A homicide investigation has started after a man died with head injuries at a regional landmark hotel in Western Australia.
St John Ambulance called police to the Plantagenet Hotel in Lowood Road, Mount Barker at 12.40am on Saturday.
The Plantagenet is a popular mainstay of the area, having been built between 1912 and 1914 and is on the main street of the Great Southern town – home to about 3,000 people.
Police said in a statement that the 54-year-old man was found at the hotel with "head and facial injuries" and died at the scene.
Police are being assisted by a man in his 40s.
A tent has been set up by police in the hotel car park.
Forensic officers were trying to determine cause from a motel room at the back of the hotel on Saturday afternoon.
