Woman suffers fatal injuries at a Perth hotel

A man is being questioned after a woman was found with fatal injuries inside a room at an inner city hotel in Perth.

At 9:40am, police were called to the Perth Ambassador Hotel on Adelaide Terrace in East Perth to investigate a disturbance on one of the top floors.

A woman believed to be in her 30s was found unresponsive.

According to Homicide Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Fogell, even though the investigation was at an early stage, it was believed the woman was attacked in one of the hotel rooms before moving into the corridor.

“Police were called to the hotel as a result of a disturbance. A female adult was located on one of the upper floors, she was unresponsive and appeared to have suffered a traumatic event,” he said.

7News reported a witnesses had seen a man running naked through numerous corridors just before 10am.

Sen-Sgt Fogell said the woman was provided with first aid at the scene by paramedics and was then taken to Royal Perth Hospital by St John Ambulance where she was pronounced dead.

“An adult male who we suspect was involved in the incident was taken into custody,” he said.

Police believe the male was a guest at the hotel.

Sgt Fogell said the police believed the victim and male knew each other but the nature of their relationship has not been established.

The identity of the victim is yet to be released.
