Violent machete attack at Silver Sand Tavern

A vicious machete attack at a Mandurah pub last Thursday left three victims hospitalised and two men in custody charged with three counts of acts or omissions causing bodily harm or danger.

A 28-year-old man from Halls Head and a 34-year-old man from Singleton were charged and remanded in custody. They will appear before Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday.

A third party, a woman in her 30s, was released without charge.

Police have released horrific images of the damage done to the three victims, showing deep facial lacerations including one stretching from the top of a victim’s left ear and across his cheekbone, close to his eye.

A missing fingertip, black eyes and significant facial bruising were also visible, with all three victims requiring surgery.

Police were called to the Silver Sands Tavern around 11pm on Thursday night, following an argument that broke out at 10.30pm inside the pub after a woman was refused entry to a private function area where a wake was happening.

The woman returned 20 minutes later with two men, one allegedly armed with a machete, and another woman.

Pandemonium ensued as patrons fled the tavern after the three victims were seriously injured.

Detectives and forensic officers have examined the scene.

Witnesses have been urged to come forward or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.
