Karen’s Diner closes three restaurants after out of control insults

Karen’s Diner has shut three venues as complaints about out-of-control insults ramp up.

Venues in Perth, Melbourne and the Gold Coast will shut, but those cities can expect Karen to ‘go on tour in various locations.

“Unfortunately, all good things come to an end and Karen can't stay forever! Today marks the closing of some of our Australian pop-up stores,' the company wrote on Facebook.

“If your local pop-up store has closed, there will be a Karen's Diner On Tour coming to your city this September.

“Karen can't stay away and needs to give you a piece of her mind.”

Those who want a Karen fix can find one in Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney only.

The unexpected and very quick closure has left some diners out of pocket.

One WA Karen goer said her friend was waiting for her booking deposit to be returned.

“The Perth venue took a deposit from my friend for her daughter’s bday tomorrow and she's received no notice of being closed but Google shows permanently closed and phone number is disconnected,' the commenter said.

Karen's Diner first opened its doors in Sydney in October 2021.

Its rules state there is to be no racist, sexist, body shaming, homophobic remarks or sexual harassment.

However, many customers claim the insults still went too far.

Last year a Brisbane diner complained he was body shamed over a receding hairline.

“What's the one thing your f**king sign says? No body shaming!” he was heard yelling at staff.

Children have been heavily insulted and encouraged to insult back, with one father saying his son was told to 'f**k off' halfway through his meal.

In another Brisbane incident, the restaurant apologised to a 14-year-old girl who was called an 'OnlyFans tart', with an implication that her father was an incestuous paedophile.

“The actions of this particular staff member are inexcusable and are against everything we believe in as a brand,” a spokesperson said at the time.
