Man arrested after fatal Point Cook resort stabbing
A man has been arrested after a fatal stabbing at the Seasons 5 Resort and Spa in Point Cook.
The arrest comes after a man with severe knife wounds was found dead on Sunday afternoon about 3pm.
Paramedics were unable to save the man as he succumbed to his injuries.
It is believed a fight broke out between two men inside the resort, before the knifeman fled the scene.
A 28-year-old man from Diggers Rest was arrested shortly after driving away, in northwest Melbourne.
Investigators believe the men were known to each other.
“An altercation allegedly took place between two men outside accommodation on Point Cook Road,” Victoria police stated.
“Sadly, one of the men died at the scene.”
Witnesses say they saw the man smash into several cars, before being chased on foot by police.
“He smacked into three cars and tried to get into another car to get away (from police) and then he ran down here and tried to jump in the water but they (the police got him just in time),” a witness told 10 News.
Forensic officers and homicide detectives have scoured nearby bushes for the murder weapon.
The arrested is assisting police but is yet to be charged.
