Security guard allegedly glassed at Mustang Bar

A Northbridge pub security guard was at the centre of a brutal attack after he asked a man to leave the pub on Saturday night.

The patron who refused to leave is accused of striking the security guard with a glass. The attack was one of several violent altercations at the pub, which has prompted locals to call for a greater police presence in the Perth suburb.

In another incident, a man was stabbed in his back and shoulder.

Of the attack on the security guard, a police spokesman said: “It will be alleged the patron – a 20-year-old man – struck the security guard with a drinking glass.

“The security guard received a laceration injury to his head, which required medical treatment at Royal Perth Hospital.”

Officers allege the security guard was working at the Lake Street venue, when he attempted to escort the patron out of the building.

The incident happened around 11.30pm.

Police arrested the 20-year-old Baldivis man immediately outside the venue.

The man has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and failed to leave licensed premises when required to do so by an authorised person.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Sunday.
