Taylor Swift fans are paying through the nose for hotel rooms as they descend on Melbourne and Sydney for the pop superstar’s seven-night Eras tour.

Some hotels are charging Swifties more than five times normal rates as they seek out last-minute tickets.

An average room in Sydney in February 2023 was $287 per night. In some hotels, fans are paying 300% more.

With Blink182 playing at the same time around Sydney’s Olympic Park precinct, there are few rooms available.

It means some rooms are more than $1,500 per night.

In Melbourne, rooms that would have cost $220 last February are currently over $900.

That is also on top of hiked flight prices.

Head of research at Ray White Commercial Vanessa Rader told Real Commercial, “The hotel sector has been given a much-appreciated uplift after the pandemic restrictions saw many shut their doors.”

Swifties are contributing enormously to the sector’s post-covid-recovery, with major events in general playing a major role in bringing life back to the sector.
