The Grossi family is reviving its wine and cocktail bar Arlechin, which will relaunch on Friday, May 24.

The bar was hit hard by COVID-19-enforced closures, however, Australian hospitality icon Guy Grossi never gave up on the late-night CBD bar.

The Grossi family – behind Grossi Florentino, Puttanesca, Cellar Bar and Ombra – and Guy’s dedicated team will reopen Arlechin with a new food and drinks lineup. The wine list will be the same, and focuses on Italian and Aussie winemakers.

The bar venue manager will be Russell Branford (ex-Lakehouse Daylesford), who will be responsible for a new cocktail menu that will include the puttanesca martinez. The cocktail is inspired by the classic pasta sauce and includes chilli-infused gin, red vermouth, a black olive reduction and Bittermens Hellfire bitters.

There will be a further five signature drinks, alongside classic Italian cocktails with a twist.

On the food menu will be dishes such as salumi boards and generous bowls of pasta (including Grossi's beloved midnight spaghetti), bolognese jaffles and crumpets topped with whipped baccala.

"The beauty of Arlechin is its location and offering," Grossi told Concrete Playground.

"If you're dining at one of our sibling restaurants and looking for a nightcap to continue your evening it's just a short walk around the corner. If you're after a pre-dinner snack, there is a selection of smaller share plates but if you want to stay put, we have plenty of substantial dinner options too. Our menu truly embraces the essence of Italian simplicity and sophistication whilst complementing the drinks list."
