Iconic Brisbane restaurant inundated with buyers

Last week we reported that iconic Brisbane restaurant Montrachet had entered voluntary administration. We can now report that it shouldn’t be long before the venue is snapped up by a new owner.

Administrators have been inundated with interested acquirers for the fine diner.

“We’ve received inquiries from a range of parties and intend to assist them to undertake due diligence and submit to us expressions of interest or offers over the course of this week,” Mark Holland of McGrathNicol said.

Interest has come from local hospitality operators as well as those from interstate. Interested parties had until 4pm, July 10 to contact McGrathNicol.

Holland said he was hopeful of finding a suitable buyer for the Bowen Hills institution, which has been a deserved recipient of Queensland Restaurant of the Year.

While the price hasn’t been revealed, Holland said McGrathNicol would be evaluating all offers.

“The price will be what someone’s prepared to pay for it. It’ll be up to the bidders to form a view on price and put that forward to us together with their credentials for consideration,” he said.

Montrachet recently celebrated 20 years in business and remains open for trade while administrators undertake the sale process.

An acquisition would also help preserve the jobs of the restaurant's 22 employees.
