AHA NSW Hoteliers Dominate at Liquor Awards

It was a great night for Keystone last night at the Australian Liquor Awards with John Duncan taking out the publican of the year award and Sugarmill winning the best gaming venue award.

AHA (NSW) members dominated several categories at the prestigious Australian Liquor Awards last night.

Winners included:

  • John Duncan, Keystone Group, Publican of the Year
  • Sugarmill, Kings Cross, Best Gaming Venue
  • Beresford Hotel, Surry Hills, Best Hotel
  • Four in Hand, Paddington, Best Hotel Bar Food
  • Golden Sheaf, Best Sports Bar
  • Merivale, Group Operator of the Year
  • Bartender of the Year, Tim Phillips


Hundreds of people including AHA (NSW) CEO Paul Nicolaou attended the awards function.

Mr Nicolaou said he was pleased to see so many AHA venues recognised as best in their field.

“There’s no doubt hotels like the Beresford, Golden Sheaf and Sugarmill are the backbone of Sydney’s tourism and hospitality industry,” he said.

“And the fine quality of hotel food at Four in Hand is legendary across NSW.

“It was great to see the hard work of management and staff at these establishments recognised as well as the dedication of John Duncan to the industry. I congratulate all winners.”
