Golden Circle ordered to pay up

Fruit company Golden Circle has been ordered to pay $50,000 over a 40-litre concentrate spill in Melbourne's north.

Apricot and beetroot concentrate were spilt from the company's Mill Park plant into the Plenty River in March last year.

Golden Circle pleaded guilty in the Broadmeadows Magistrates Court to one water pollution charge.

It was also ordered to publish the details of the case in major newspapers.
