Jindi, Wattle Valley-branded cheese products: recall

The NSW Food Authority advises:

Jindi Cheeses Pty Ltd has recalled batches of its Jindi and Wattle Valley brie and camembert cheeses.

The products are being recalled as a precautionary measure due to the potential contamination with Listeria spp. bacteria. Symptoms include: fever, muscle aches, and sometimes symptoms such as nausea and diarrhoea.

Listeria infection is serious for pregnant women and unborn babies, people over 70 years and people with weakened immune systems.

The recalled products are

  • Jindi Brie 1kg in gold foil packet with light yellow label
  • Jindi Camembert 1kg in silver foil packet with yellow & white label
  • Jindi Food Service Brie 1kg in white packet with yellow & white label
  • Wattle Valley Brie 1kg in silver foil packet with yellow & white label
  • Wattle Valley Camembert 1kg in white packet with yellow & white label

All with ‘best before’ date of 21 December 2012.

The recall only applies to the above products.

Consumers should not consume this product. They should discard it or return to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Consumers who have purchased a cut portion of camembert or brie from a supermarket or delicatessen who are unsure of the brand or 'best before' date should discard it.

Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.
