Brisbane to get another giant pub

The creators of 'Australia's largest pub' have won approval for another huge operation at Sandstone Point, north of Brisbane.

Due to open March 2014, the Sandstone Point Hotel will include a 3000 square metre pub, a real lighthouse accommodating a fresh seafood café and bar, a major events licence for up to 25,000 people, 50 accommodation rooms and a caravan park.

On the site of a former oyster farm, the Sandstone will focus heavily on fresh seafood, offering guests "the best oysters from around Australia", as well as pig roasts on the weekends.

A boat shed will serve as a function room, to be built beside the historic 100-year old 90m jetty already on the 7Ha property.

Robert Comiskey, owner and director of Comiskey Group, told TheShout the company is thrilled to get approval on the site, which it has been working on for the last year.

"This project is a once in a lifetime opportunity to create something special on the waterfront," he said.
