Hodges looks to double up in burgeoning Double Bay
Just a few years ago, Double Bay was on the slide as a food-and-wine destination. Then along came Mrs Sippy. Others followed, and the news is only getting better, with Fish Face owner-chef Stephen Hodges confirming he will open a restaurant in the suburb.
Hodges was spotted touring vacant Double Bay sites last week.
''Yep, I want something down there,'' Hodges says.
''Double Bay is close to a lot of my customers who followed me from Pier when I opened Fish Face [in Darlinghurst]. The plan is to open there and, if all goes to plan, eventually turn Darlinghurst into a fish-and-chipper. It'll happen, I just have to find the right site.''
Eye on Double Bay: Fish Face chef and owner Stephen Hodges.
A who's who of Sydney chefs have looked at the former premises of Ad Lib Bistro on Bay Street, including Hodges, who says that particular site isn't for him. But the level of interest in Double Bay is fascinating given it was so on the nose when Westfield Bondi Junction opened.
