Tim Foster buys Annie Smithers Bistrot, in Kyneton

One of regional Victoria's most awarded restaurants, Annie Smithers Bistrot, in Kyneton, has a new owner.

Tim Foster, currently head chef at The Healesville Hotel in the Yarra Valley, and his wife, Michelle, signed contracts to buy the restaurant and its associated branding on Friday.

"Tim is exactly the kind of chef I hoped would buy my restaurant," says Smithers, who will concentrate on her gardens, her other restaurant (Du Fermier, in nearby Trentham) and a second book, as well as other writing opportunities.

Smithers has been one of several Spa Country restaurateurs to help put the region on the food map.
