New apartment wing, new Mercure name at Hobart's Hadleys Hotel

Hobart's Hadleys Hotel -- owned by international hotel group Accor -- is shifting the nameplates on its door following the opening of its new apartment wing.

Hadleys has long been a business traveller pick in Tasmania's capital, but the main hotel will no longer be the city's Grand Mercure -- the new Grand Mercure Hobart Central Apartments will take the upscale title, while the main Hadleys Hotel will turn into Hobart's second Mercure, a notch down.

(Don't confuse the Mercure Hadleys Hotel with the original -- but now rather worn -- Mercure Hobart when booking in Hobart.)

You'll find 125 apartments in the new Grand Mercure Hobart Central Apartments, adjoining the older Hadleys Hotel, right in the middle of Hobart's waterfront:

The Hadleys hotels' joint general manager, Shelley Richards, is keen to spruik the new offerings to business travellers. "The new development will really energise the CBD area of Hobart. The city has long-needed the extra high-quality accommodation, conference space and restaurants," Richards said.

"We are confident that the combined hotel facilities will soon become the leading venue for interstate and international conferences events in Hobart, while the restaurants, cafe and bars will give the city centre more dining and entertainment options," Richards added.
